Best Evidence - The 1980 Rendlesham Forest Case

Some clips from interviews I conducted for the 1980 Rendlesham Forest case for "Best Evidence: Top 10 UFO Cases", which premieres on Space in Canada on May 10, 2007.

Included are UFO Review publisher Stuart Miller, UFO researcher / author / lecturer Stan Friedman, former UK Ministry of Defence UFO investigator Nick Pope, and UFO researcher / author Richard Hall.

And yes, Rendlesham is somewhere in the Top 10.

"Where?" you ask.

You'll have to watch the film to find out!

Myth #1: "Most of the witnesses were Military, so you've got trained observers"

Reality: Military personal are not educated in being trained observers. The Military's philosophy is shoot first and ask questions later -- which is the exact opposite a trained observer would do. As any scientifically trained observer knows, you cannot trust your senses when making observations, and the important part of any observation is overcoming your own psychology, i.e. -- the tendency to delude oneself; to mistake illusions for reality; the ability to hallucinate under certain conditions; etc.

Myth #2: "There was physical trace evidence".

Reality: There was no actual physical evidence one could hold in the palm of their hands. "Trace" evidence means there is no direct evidence, that the "evidence" being claimed has to be inferred from the narration of the witnesses and cannot be independently confirmed by an outside party.

Myth #3: Rendlesham had "highly trained reliable witnesses"

Reality: See myth #1. There were no "highly trained reliable witnesses". There were witnesses that were highly trained, but not as objective observers. Were they reliable witnesses? There is no proof of that and even if it could be proven, it is irrelevant to science how reliable a witness is, because the only thing that is relevant is can the observation be backed up with corroborating physical evidence.

"There was no actual physical evidence one could hold in the palm of their hands"

Plaster casts were made from the alleged landing marks. Some were stolen, but there are still a few in existence. On the History Channel's "Britain's Roswell", Jim Penniston (Ret. USAF, SSgt) showed the plaster cast that he had.

You can certainly hold one of these in your hands!

The keywords are "alleged landing marks". They weren't actual landing marks and landing marks cannot be held in the palm of your hands.
