Who is to say that trying to prove string theory is not also a silly effort. I sometimes think Michio Kaku gets more credit than he should. He's very much a showman, who comes out with some outlandish statements - Most of which can neither be proved or disproved. Sort of like religion really.

Kaku is astute and refreshing. I hope Shostak et al are paying attention.
But String Theory "almost conclusive"? Hardly!
