Holly Stevens and Ghost Cases on A & E Biography

Episode 7, part 4 of the A & E Biography series My Ghost Story, about the Algonquin Hotel in St. Andrew's, New Brunswick, features my Ghost Cases co-host Holly Stevens and footage from the second episode of our series. You can view the A & E segment here.

I wish the producers had spent more time placing the incident in context, but that's American television for you - a lot of flash, and a lot of quick edits and special effects, sometimes at the expense of the story itself. Still, the segment is well done, Holly did a great job, and the footage remains compelling.

To get the fuller and much more interesting story, watch the original Ghost Cases episode on Eastlink TV, or check out my Paracast interview segment at The Other Side of Truth podcast, where I discuss the case (listen to it here).

Thanks for posting this Paul. I've heard you talk about this footage a couple of times now and so it's nice to finally be able to see it down here in the US. I also agree with you that the segment was a bit too "flashy" but hopefully it will encourage people to search for your program, which I really hope finds its way to American TV soon, if for no other reason than 13 episodes of Holly will be fantastic!

Cool! They probably might have had you on if Holly wasn't so pretty!

It made sense to take her, because it was really her experience with the orb - I was somewhere else in the time. However, I think - if one believes this was the spirit of the bride - that my part of the story is important for the full context, particularly to understand why Holly felt obliged to go back to the room... none of which is made clear in the My Ghost Story segment. But that's television, as they say! ;-)

P.S. And yes, she is definitely better looking than I am. And arguably more articulate on camera!

I'm not convinced by the "orb" but I agree that your friend Holly comes across as very compelling. I checked your "Mully and Sculder" blog: what is her science degree in, and are you two still conducting investigations?

Thank you,
Anna

Hi Anna,

Holly has a B.Sc. in biology. No, we haven't conducted any investigations since the series ended - she has moved to Vancouver to pursue her career as an actor, and I've been working on other film & television projects not related to the paranormal.

2 things Paul. I like the new look of your blog. Stylish. And then there's Holly. Stylish doesn't beging to cover it. Beautiful.

Paul, you are a bit like Dr. Who, always with a younger female companion who seems to work as a kind of apprentice (I remember Kris McBride from "season 1" and that Brittany girl from "season 2"). Do you have a favourite?

Paul Kimball said...

Well, anonymous, I am the twelfth Doctor, so that seems fair enough. My favourite companion remains Rose Tyler. :-)

I've seen all of the episodes of your show Paul, and no offence to your co-host, who is obviously a very attractive young woman, but you were the only reason to watch it. Your tongue-in-cheek attitude was 100% refreshing, and it made your open-mindeness that much more credible.

Anon.,

Thanks, but Holly brought as much to the show as I did. Sorry you didn't get that.

I totally agree Paul. That was one of the best things about the show was how differently each of you approached things. It let both of you add to it in your own way. Neither better, just different.
