A couple of kudos:
1. To Steven Bassett, for inviting me to the X-Conference, which was the reason I went to the US in the first place;
2. To Peter Gersten, for his good-natured hospitality while we were in Sedona; and
3. Most of all, to my good pal Greg Bishop, for putting us up while we were in Los Angeles. Thanks, Greg - you're always welcome here in Halifax.
To start off, here are some of my favourite photos from the hundreds Kris and I took on the trip.
Greg, yours truly, and Kris at a scenic overlook on Mulholland Drive. I saw and experienced a lot of great things on the trip, but it wouldn't have been nearly as much fun without Kris along as my "travel buddy" - she's an even better friend than she is an actor, and she's a great actor - or without the chance to hang out for several days with Greg in LA. Thanks guys!
Greg and I discuss the finer points of contactee-ism at Giant Rock, near Yucca Valley, California.
Kris and I actually did a fair bit of work while in the United States (it was a working vacation) - here I'm getting ready to shoot some footage near the Integratron.

Kris, Greg and I walked every single inch of the Hollywood Walk of Fame one day. Only at the very end did we come across the star of William Shatner (I had become somewhat obsessed as the walk went along with finding it), which ironically enough was just outside the entrance to the parking lot where we had left the car. Alas, it was under repair, and in no condition to be photographed. A couple nights later, however, Kris and I went to see a film at the legendary Graumann's Chinese Theatre, and lo-and-behold Shatner's star, which is pretty much just outside the Theatre, had been fixed, and was in pristine condition. As a Canadian, a huge Star Trek fan, and a fellow shameless self-promoter and ham, I had to have my picture taken with Bill's star. So I did!

The USAF may be responsible for the Cosmic Watergate (I doubt it, but anything is possible), but they also take the issue of beach preservation seriously, as this warning sign at Surf Beach outside Vandenberg AFB demonstrates. Given who the base is named after, the whole thing is probably run by MJ-12!

Paul,
You and Kris are welcome back anytime. I had a blast re-discovering L.A.
BTW: Giant Rock is in California. AZ has enough great scenery to call its own already!
Greg:
Oops. Typo. Fixed!
We had a blast in CA., in no small part thanks to you!

There's plenty of a Fortean nature to see here - Aurora (the crash of 1897 story) is not far away; there's the Lake Worth Monster; a couple of big haunted houses, the ghostly lady of White Rock Lake and more. Plenty of good pubs and clubs too.
Good pubs and clubs??
You just said the majic (er... magic) words, my friend!

William Shatner, eh?
Do you belong?
